This new student accommodation scheme, comprising of 674 en-suite bedrooms (total area of 20,400m2) to be constructed in the northern residential quarter of the university, is the second phase of student residences. The scheme comprising building blocks between four and seven storeys in height fronts onto the Corrib River and is located directly along the main campus ‘boulevard’ linking back to the academic quarter / adjoining park-and ride facility. Buildings are ranged around a series of new hard / soft landscaped courtyards, each with their own distinctive character. The development also comprises a Café, as well as Student Support spaces, gymnasium, common rooms, study areas, laundry, and a Client Management Suite to manage the development during the operational phase. The development also includes central plant facilities, dedicated ESB sub-station for the development. The development will be NZEB compliant.
