Brand new Nursing Home in Carrigaline, Co. Cork, to facilitate 110 Residents

The project at Carrigaline, Co. Cork, consisted of the development of a new build private Nursing Home comprising of 110 en-suite bedrooms. The site was a greenfield site located in a Janeville Residential site, and the new build is approximately 6,800m². Alongside the 110 bedrooms, the facility also provides day / sunrooms, dining spaces, hairdresser room, meeting rooms, laundry rooms, staff changing, commercial and satellite kitchens, and canteen facilities, with plantrooms to service the building.

JV Tierney & Co. provided the Mechanical, Electrical, and Sustainable Design Services for the development, which include:

• Sustainable design of all Mechanical and Electrical systems, leading to a BER Rating of A3 for the development.
• Low Pressure Hot Water (LPHW) heating with Heat Pumps
• Natural ventilation of spaces where possible to minimise energy consumption.
• Building Energy Management System (BEMS) coupled with metering of plant for optimum control of energy usage.
• Variable speed drives on all major plant items and high efficiency heating plant.
• Heat recovery on all mechanical ventilation systems.
• Automatic presence detection of all lights in areas that are intermittently occupied, with high efficiency LED lighting throughout.
• Protective services including fire alarm, CCTV, and intruder alarm.
