HSE Campus Warehouse building for the HSE in Ballycoolin, Dublin.
Close control of the environmental conditions was required to maintain stable conditions for the goods and equipment stored in the warehouse. To achieve this, a reverse cycle heat pump installation was provided in conjunction with suspended radiant panels. This required detailed coordination with the existing building and services infrastructure and the proposed storage racking system. The control system includes multiple monitoring locations distributed across the floor area of the warehouse with black bulb temperature sensors located at high and low level in each location. The thermal performance of the installation was modelled using dynamic simulation software to ensure the design achieved the environmental performance requirements and the optimal layout of the radiant panels. The installation included the retrofitting of a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system into the existing office area to improve air quality and comfort conditions in the staff area of the building.
