New €24 million Emergency Department opens at University Hospital Limerick!

J.V. Tierney & Co. are the Mechanical, Electrical and Sustainable Design Engineers for the new €24 million state of the art Emergency Department which has opened at University Hospital Limerick. This facility is over three times the size of the one it replaces. The new ED has 50 No. single treatment rooms for patients providing improved isolation facilities with increased privacy and is designed to improve patient flow and decrease the amount of time they spend in the department.

The new 6,800m2 2-Storey Building has a 2-Storey underground car park with provision for a further 3-Floor Extension. The Emergency Dept. has 29 No. standard treatment rooms, 6 No. Minor Treatment Roms and 3 No. major treatment cubicles. The Renal/Haemodialysis Unit has 20 No. Standard Dialysis treatment rooms, 4 No. isolation suites and 4 No. CAPD treatments spaces.
