Joe is a Chartered Engineer with 43 years’ experience in both the Public and Private Sectors. This includes experience in Office Developments, Student Accommodation, Residential, Healthcare, Education, Retail, Leisure, Mission Critical and Secure Centres Projects.

Joe is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow Member of CIBSE, and Fellow Professional Consulting Engineer with ACEI (Association of Consulting Engineers in Ireland). In 2022 Joe became Chairman of the Board of Directors of J.V. Tierney & Co., having been Joint Managing Director since 2002. Joe’s position has seen him lead the strategic direction of J.V. Tierney & Co. for Ireland, the UK and other international markets. Joe has established an excellent track record in delivering complex projects through his ability to recognise key design issues; identifying engineering solutions that are energy efficient, cost effective and the most viable solutions for the successful delivery of the Client’s project. Joe embraces the need to design projects to meet Nett Zero Carbon guidelines in the move towards decarbonization, utilizing the latest technologies available including digitalisation involving the Internet of Things (IoT) and SMART building functionalities.

Joe has extensive experience in the Planning, Design, Environmental Design, Thermal Modelling, Nearly Zero Energy Buildings, Innovation, Cost Control and Process of Delivery of large scale Mechanical and Electrical Services Engineering projects. Joe was Project Director on multi-award winning projects such as Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin and John Paul II Library Extension at National University of Ireland, Maynooth.
