Congratulations are in order for Conor Deane who was awarded 2nd Place in this year’s CIBSE ASHRAE (YEAs) Graduate of the Year Awards, one of the industry’s most sought-after accolades.

The award ceremony, which was held on October 11th in the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London, saw each of the 8 shortlisted finalists from around the globe deliver a 5-minute presentation on the topic: “How can we inspire engineers to work holistically and collaboratively to deliver high-performance buildings?”

In his runner-up presentation entitled “Engineers are the Chief Mountaineers”, Conor used the analogy of mountain-climbing to demonstrate the significant role of Engineers in the drive towards decarbonisation.

The event fell in line with CIBSE’s 125th Anniversary year and focused on the theme, ‘Inspire the next generation’.

The CIBSE ASHRAE (YEAs) Graduate of the Year Awards recognise future industry change makers as they address questions around the role of engineering in delivering a safe, healthy, and sustainable built environment to all.

A big well done to Conor, 1st place winner Sana Hafsa, and all shortlisted finalists.
